8-Day Xinjiang: Urumqi, Turpan, Kashgar & Tashkurgan

Xinjiang Tours 8 Days On Request

Tour Overview

This eight-day private journey weaves through Xinjiang's most storied landscapes, from the modern hub of Urumqi to the ancient Silk Road oasis of Turpan, then south to the vibrant bazaars of Kashgar and the high plateaus of Tashkurgan. You'll travel in comfort with a private guide and vehicle, staying in hand-picked hotels that blend international standards with local character. The route is designed for curious travellers who want to understand the region's layered history, taste its diverse cuisines, and meet the people who keep its traditions alive.

The journey begins with the alpine serenity of Tianchi Lake, backed by the snow-capped Bogda Peak. In Turpan, you'll descend into the cool confines of the karez irrigation tunnels, walk among the mud-brick ruins of ancient Jiaohe, and share a home-cooked dinner with a local family. A short flight brings you to Kashgar, where the Sunday livestock market and the winding alleys of the old town offer a sensory feast. The final days climb into the Pamir Mountains, following the Karakoram Highway to Tashkurgan. Here, the landscape opens into vast plains punctuated by turquoise lakes, red mountains, and the stone fort of an ancient kingdom.

Comfort is assured throughout: private transfers, well-located four- and five-star hotels, and a flexible pace that allows for photography, tea breaks, and spontaneous encounters. Whether you're a photographer chasing light on the Pamir plateau or a history enthusiast tracing the footsteps of caravans, this itinerary offers a deep and personal encounter with Xinjiang.
